How do I transfer photos from my phone to my Pc: LG Viewty?

I want to transfer the photos on my LG Viewty on my computer. When I plug it the hardrive with the USB cable, it appears with a message saying that my computer does not have the correct software or something. Do I need to do some kind of set-up/configuration before the transfer the photos? And if so, what, and how can I do this? The manual is useless
