Apple to launch its new version of OSX, the operating system known as the Snow Leopard in September. They said that the version 10.6 of the operating system is not as a replacement for 10.5 (Leopard), it is a refinement.
Well, if you're already a fan of the Mac like me, you may want to know what is to refine. Fortunately, I'm not a design software, because Jobs and his team have done an important work under the hood, making an already innovative OS much more elegant.
The first thing you will notice about the Snow Leopard is the price at U.S. $ 29. An upgrade would be very reasonable, but then I was never above to pay for decent software. Also, if you bought a new Mac running Leopard from June 8, 2009 Apple will send an update to the Snow Leopard 7.95 EU.
A lot of people will want to upgrade to the extended support for Microsoft products. Improved MS Exchange Server support has been built into Mail, iCal and Address Book in Snow Leopard. This means that all your mail, contacts and task lists from Outlook can be viewed on your Mac Add extra features to it as Drag and drop contact lists and notices for meetings in conflict, and the leopard becomes a shoe-in for Outlook lovers.
I could also mention here that MS said it will replace the Entourage in Mac Office suite with Outlook for Macintosh. It will still be different from the Windows version of the program, but it will add support for functions much more than Exchange.
As far as other changes go, the Leopard will be faster and lighter than its predecessor. Among other improvements, the new operating system will be installed up to 45 percent faster boot times are quicker, faster shutdowns, Time Machine backups faster, and smother a process when connecting to wireless networks. Apple also touts that when you install the new Snow Leopard, you will notice that releases about 6GB of space. What they did with the rest? Only Apple knows.
Other changes include an updated Quicktime and crook, Exposing the integration with the icons of the dock, and the new version of Safari, which was released in June.
All in all, it seems that Snow Leopard will be a must have for users of Intel Macs. PPS Sorry the new OSX is a no go for you.
