While the HTC Touch Pro comes with a variety of applications loaded by default, there are some good programs they left out, such as Google maps. After sorting through tons of applications for Windows Mobile, I came up with a list of useful programs to load into your Virgin Touch Pro

  • Advanced Configuration Tool – This program allows you to adjust all sorts of settings
  • CorePlayer – Media Player. Plays almost all the music / video formats and streaming capabilities is better than the stock Windows Media Player. TCPMP not working on the Touch Pro (yet), so this is the next best thing.
  • Diamond TF3D Config – Although the program was made for the Touch Diamond, it will work on Touch Pro If you are using TouchFlo3D, this program will allow you to re-organize tabs and remove unwanted tabs.
  • GMobileSync – If you use Google Calendar, the program will allow you to synchronize Google Calendar for your phone.I You may receive an error after synchronization but do not worry, your calendar entries will sync.
  • Google Maps – Surprisingly, this was not included in the list of stocks programs. Google Maps is almost a no-brainer, which allows the maps that you seek, receive directions, traffic show, etc. Its Better yet, Google Maps works even with the Touch Pro's built-in GPS. Using GPS with Google Maps allows you to create a route from your current location, but are not automatically re-route in case of a detour.Â
  • Kevtris 2 – Tetris for your mobile phone, 'nuff said.
  • PdaNet – A must have program if you want to tether (use your phone as an Internet connection).  You can connect via Bluetooth or USB connection. Supposedly, the program hides your data usage so it looks like you're browsing from the phone, not your computer. A Most carriers have a rate of tie beyond standard data charges. PdaNet basically to bypass the bonds rates conceal the traffic. I used PdaNet inside and out for over a year and did not tie rates or charges.
  • PHM Regedit – Registry Editor for Windows Mobile.eu A must have if you thinking of doing some advanced settings.
  • Remote Desktop for Windows Mobile 6-A – This is just what it sounds like a remote desktop program for Windows Mobile that lets you access your remote desktop enabled PC while away it.a Why not include this in the stock ROM is beyond Me.A Remote Desktop is useful if you need access to a PC, but do not have a computer available.
  • Spb Mobile Shell – An alternative to TouchFlo3D. Mobile Shell basically replaces your screen with your own easy interface I use SPB Mobile Shell, because I think TouchFlo3D be laggy at times and cause overall slow performance. Installing Mobile Shell helped the overall performance and there is also a ton of customization that can be applied to suit your taste.
  • Spb Insight – An alternative to the standard newsreader "RSS Hub".  RSS Hub is very good, light and fast, but lacks some things. One is the lack of images, the other is RSS Hub only active part of an article, so that you visit the site to read the rest of the SPB Insight article. images not only downloads but also (most time) downloads the entire article for offline viewing.
  • Spb Pocket Plus – plug a very powerful today screen in.Â-Allows you to add all kinds of plugins and shortcuts to your Today screen with many other features. I use Pocket Plus, one of the tabs in SPB Mobile Shell.
  • Sprite Backup – This program backs up your phone, contacts, programs, etc.The Backups can be scheduled and only take about 5-6 minutes to Run is always a good idea to have backups!
  • TorchButton – Allows you to use the function of the camera flash as a flashlight. The application is light, you just run the program to activate the light and run the program again to activate it off. By default, the LED will only stay for 30 seconds to avoid burning.
  • Total Commander – A feature File Explorer program filled with too many features for list. This program is a definite must have, because you never know when you'll need it.a
  • VNC Viewer – Exactly what do you think is.a will let you connect and control the desktop from any VNC server.
  • vxUtil – network utilities like ping, traceroute, whois, etc.The network administrators may want to look at this program, which could come in handy and save time.
