Blackberry software update?

I have a pearl and my friend just got a new curve. It has threaded SMS, the new BlackBerry (not is an application, it now comes with blackberries). Is there any way I can get this software on my pearl? An update? Where can I find the upgrade?

You can get the update for free, but can be a little tricky. I would like to search for the BlackBerry Pearl update on crackberry.com to instructions. Even if a carrier does not officially support the update, it should still work perfectly. Just be careful and remember to backup before try to update. I would also remove all SIM cards and media cards or the BlackBerry could give you an error when trying to update.
