Samsung Phones Alltel

Replacing my old phone with AT & T Samsung in my Alltel network. Can I do this?

I currently use a Samsung SCH-U340 on my Alltel network. They gave me a Samsung SGH-i617 (I think it is called Jack Black or something that could definitely be wrong in the title though). The new phone was originally used on AT & T and so has, among many other new features for me, a SIM card which Alltel phones seem to lack. I know it is changing Alltel Verizon and all that stuff, but I'm looking to use the new phone to replace my original phone. Is this a possibility? How do I go about doing that? Thank you! Mitchel
