Iphone Issues List

If you are buff and iPhone, you want your iPhone to work on your ShoreTel IPBX! I recently moved VeNetCorps SipPhone iPhone App store! There are several applications of SIP phone in the store, but most have a domain name pre-programmed to the SIP proxy server log. If you want to use your own SIP proxy there was no easy way to change the IP address that you had to cut your DNS so that it points to the SIP proxy ShoreTel. It is also necessary at least the iPhone firmware 2.2 as earlier versions have WiFi connectivity challenges that negatively impacted the potential use of a SIP soft phone. After WiFi iPhone got an IP address, if you tried to ping the address that you would see the latency more than 300ms. With version 2.2 this problem has everything but become garbled. As with any configuration of SIP extension ShoreTel, you need to allocate resources SIP Proxy extension in a switch ShoreGear. In the Sites ShoreWare Director, be sure to assign a virtual IP address. This is the address that you will use for your "domain" when you configure the SipPhone IPhone. Of course, you will need a User configuration with a SIP phone password set in the User section individual Director ShoreWare.
Clearly the assumption here is that you have a WAP that the iPhone can connect to. Also that wireless connection can direct your network ShoreTel! Once the User ShoreTel SIP, the IP address and virtual resources configured proxy, it's time to configure your iPhone SipPhone! After you load the application down and tap to activate the application you will have a screen that lists the options: Dialer, videos, contacts, accounts and settings. Hit the Accounts tab and then you will edit a new SIP account. For this application to work in ShoreTel you need to enter only three values. First you need to enter the domain name, we have previously defined in the Director ShoreTel as the virtual IP address. User name and password are also, as specified in the User Configuration individual ShoreTel. Hit the tab done, and the phone should register and you can make and receive calls from your ShoreTel. I put a video clip that covers this so you can see that he works hard! The video suggests that you enter the User Name, but if you want to call the iPhone from an extension ShoreTel, enter the extension number of the User in its place. This was just a fun project and latency in WiFi the iPhone is still a challenge for the use of SIP phone. I suspect that the version 3.0 of the iPhone will fix this little problem, but it was a blast trying it out! Enjoy!
