In this second of two articles we'll look at how existing resources of the iPhone may find its way into the gaming experience and the way these new exciting new features integrate with the older versions of the iPhone.

The increase in processing power in general used in 3GS iPhone should release resources to allow the iTunes software device to be integrated within certain games. This could lead to situations where you can choose your own soundtrack your own library of music to accompany your playing experience. I feel that this scenario would work very well in games, driving simulator. This is potentially another feature that the Sony PSP and Nintendo DSi Go could miss.

A further advance 3GS for the iPhone is the ability for game developers to use the integrated Bluetooth connectivity to allow multiplayer games to take place. This would alleviate the need to use a wireless network or 3G communication protocol, both of which have their problems in terms of ease of creation and speed up the data transfer.

Despite these obvious advances brought about by 3GS, game developers now face a problem that most users still have older versions of the iPhone, which means that the largest number of sales is likely that go to these users. So developers have to ensure that new games still work perfectly well on these devices, as well as the new hardware. If that means new games that will come in two versions, or come as a version but has the ability to turn off the new features is still opinion. I just hope that these great new are not lost because of the need to satisfy those with the older technology. I suppose that as time passes and the balance of users moving toward to 3GS and we then see that if the device more dominant in the iPhone line up.

As can be seen, although the new iPhone 3GS packs plenty of power game, I that will take a while for software developers to come to terms with these new features and find innovative ways to incorporate them in two games today and tomorrow. Only I hope that the restrictions imposed on them by current technology does not diminish these prospects exciting.

It will be many generations before mobile devices as iPhone3GS are able to offer the quality and experience of today's current generation consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360 from Microsoft, but the new 3GS certainly leads to a good step towards achieving this goal.
