Android is an open-source software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications to enable developers to create Internet style applications on the phone. The development of Android is accomplished by using a development kit software provided by Google. Android not is Java, though it uses the Java programming language. It is based on the Linux operating system and coded in a language like Java.

Idea behind the platform is to combine the technology companies with furniture companies to produce an open operating system that can be updated by any developer to improve the product for its users. Developers can use kit SDK to create applications that work with the Android platform to bring together other applications in addition to those included with the Android operating system itself. The SDK includes an emulator that will help developers test their applications on the Android operating system. The Android operating system is also built on the phenomenon that each application is as good as the applications that are included.

Developers who want to create experiences mobile using the Android operating system may do so using a standard Application Programming Interface (API) that allows them to use a series of procedure calls to control and access to common features in Android. The API also allows items stored within the mobile environment, such as contacts and appointments, the integration with services web as the online calendar and interaction services, such as email, groups, etc.

Previous Surveys say that the mobile market is three times greater than the Internet. Google bought Android in July 2005.
