Iphone Apps

Let's face it, the days of playing with Barbie dolls and Hot Wheels are rapidly being replaced by iPhones. However, as a teacher, I'm always for education iPhone apps. As always, I found some good ones that are not only educational, but fun! At least they were fun for the public preschool. Before you go out and start flaming me to advocate for me to allow preschool children to play with an iPhone, let me remind you that most states require children to learn about the technology. Even the pre-k guidelines in most states have basic technology requirements teachers must teach children, but basic computer skills. So I'm just preparing my children for the inevitable.

Wheels on the Bus by Duck Duck Moose Project

If you could not understand the title, this iPhone app is based on the classic "Wheels on the Bus" song. It is a good sing and the kids get to hit and make your way through different scenes.

SightWords

This is a quick game of word. Is the type of flash card base. Although I do not look at all the 300 + words, he seemed to be near the site Dolch word list with words like "and, mother, father." They play the screen to hear the word pronounced. Arrows at the bottom of the screen to help them navigate.

ABC Phonics Counts for Brain Games

This game has your child matching animal pictures to words. So cute little animals on the screen and your child should match what the correct word. He also has an activity card flash memory to practice before playing The Game to improve the score. He has to unlock levels to make it as their more competitive counterparts.

Kids Math Games Brain Age Counts

Also by Brain Counts, this game gets kids math games. Are you counting, addition, multiplication and division. The disadvantage is that you need to adjust the level of your child. It's a little difficult for a pre-k kid do this for yourself or herself. However, if you only have one kid, you can configure it once and let them have at it.

I would think that no one goal in this age group, but they really do and the games are fun. The kids really like them and hold their attention.
