Google Android on Laptop
Google recently announced its latest experiment from Google Labs, Google Fast Flip, which aims to provide a reading experience similar to flipping pages of a traditional newspaper or magazine. This is an attempt to smooth relations between Google and the newspaper industry that openly criticized the giant search engine.
Publishers argue that Google discourages readers from accessing an entire story as the snippets of headlines and news published on the search engine are enough to give readers a picture of what a story is about. And for most readers, the information gathered from the snippets is enough for the full story does not receive sufficient exposure.
Features
News on-line reading is often problematic especially in sites that contain a substantial amount of graphics and other media. Fast Flip solves this problem by offering Internet users with a quick read-through news. Users can browse a collection of recent news items and other popular stories without having to deal with delays in the shipment. You keep clicking through the articles until you find something of interest. Feeds from major labels can also be seen on the site.
Fast Flip also keeps track your viewing history so that it suggests themes, content and even journalists, who often would you like to read about. There is a "Like" button that appears on the page so that you can mark your favorite stories. Google believes that this project is an effective solution for some of the problems that haunt the publishing industry today. One way to faster improvement in the reading of the news will encourage you to read more. This gives publishers the opportunity to attract new readers, possibly increasing their exposure to existing ones. Similarly, there is a revenue-generating feature where publishers earn a portion of the money from contextually relevant ads.
Some observers say it could Fast Flip also be disadvantageous to editors as it would allow Google to access more of their content. If the reader feel that he has obtained a general idea of what a story is about, reading behavior may not necessarily result in a click-through.
