Iphone Accessory Not Compatible Message

I'm getting a strange message iphone, what does this mean?

The message continues to appear on my iPhone saying that the accessory'm trying to use is not compatible with my phone. It appears when I'm not doing anything with it and also I have not even put anything unusual about it. Anyone out there with an iPhone has experienced this? If so, where can you fix it? How?

I get this message whenever I try to use my old accessories iPod with it. If you are not anything to call him, I suspect that the door may have a bent pin (contact, whatever) or something.
