We are living in a period of time very original. Innovation happens faster than you can handle it, especially on the Internet. If you literally have a week off, you lost a ton. There's a good chance you missed the latest version of Google, the new iPod from Apple, or the legal battle for AOL. Take a few months off and you've probably missed the introduction of a technology that will be fundamental to the future (think about how AJAX is hot right now and most of us had not heard it for a year).

Although it may be exciting just sit back and soak in all the amazing things happening, he also can be extremely stressful as an Internet entrepreneur trying to keep up. If you're like me, you probably sign a lot of newsletters and print magazines. It seems that everyone is talking about increasing traffic, doing x or increase my conversions by doing y, and if I do not now I'll be back and my business will fail. What should we do? For obvious reasons, the worst thing you can do is stop reading newspapers and magazines. You need to stay up to date on what's happening in your industry. Going into a shell and focus entirely on your business, without contact with the outside world will lead to missed opportunities. Learning should not be regarded as a finite thing – it must always be our growing knowledge base. We will never know everything we need to know.

That said, we also understand that we can not possibly adapt to every change only available to us. Any entrepreneur must have a business plan that conveys the main goals of the business, and should try to adhere to it. He will certainly be a fluid document, life changing with time, but still retains the ultimate goals of the business.

In the course of his reading, if you find a technique or technology that will help you directly meet these goals, then you should certainly pursue it. If not, note it and move on. I keep a "book" idea where I write down all the I have ideas that are not directly applicable to my current company. Thus, the idea is not lost for the future, but not confusion my mind now.

You have two choices – hate change and watch your business fall behind, or learn to embrace it through the application of technologies relevant exciting. After all, it is better to live in a time of rapid change, as opposed to a hundred years ago, when major changes only happened once or twice in a lifetime?
