Iphone Deals Unlocked

What's the deal with unlocked iPhones, I can get them unlocked anywhere?

I also heard that you unlock your iPhone and update it or plug it into your computer to iTunes it will lock again. true?

I am almost certain that is not true .. but I could be wrong. However, also keep in mind that unlocking a phone you can cancel the warranty and maybe even some insurance that you may have about the phone … If they do insurance for iPhones, I forget. Moreover, depending on what methods were used to unlock the phone, access to certain features iPhones may be disabled. I'm not sure where in the world you may be, but I'm in the U.S. and the iPhone is AT & T (formerly Cingular), which is what I use anyway .. I am very happy there services.
