IPhone screen goes blank when you try to disconnect a call?

My friend has the iPhone 3Gs. When she has the iPhone when it tries to turn the phone off the screen turns black. Some information that may be useful if the case goes to the iPhone 1st generation.

well mine does this everynow and then also, but I think it is just that the screen freezes while it is dark, but my sisters and brothers and friends all do it too id say to just restart it (hold the top button and a circle at the same time until Apple comes up silver), to restart it and usually rfreshes it a bit and I think that's all you can do … your spoiled just really, is all
