Have you ever been excited to do something and got stuck? You can offer your knowledge and charge the same or sell your own product or someone else product as an affiliate. The first question that arises is what is the guarantee that my experience / service / product will produce revenue? Does anyone will pay for my service?
Once we ask ourselves this question, we hung forward. I've been there several times. In fact, as entrepreneurs, we experience at this time almost every day.
Having worked for an employer for many years, I never had to go through the pain of making that decision, because my boss would take care of them. However, when it became self-employed, I had to learn certain facts of a hard way. I'm not an expert, but I'd like to share my experiences and I hope that will help speed up and exploit the entrepreneur in you.
There is no guarantee that your expertise will generate revenue, but at the same time that you can not rule out the possibility. You can do one of the following options.
Choice # 1: You were paid by your employer for the skills and knowledge. Maybe your employer does not need you or not requiring these skills and knowledge in their business now. You can choose to stop using completely skills and competencies, by hitting it and believe it or you're not good enough
Choice # 2 You can list and write down the skills and knowledge you like in your job and start offering their expertise in a small way for many business owners.
I made a decision to go with Choice # 2. I had learned certain skills, such as personnel management, information processing, using certain computer programs, etc. in my work. Instead not to worry about attracting a perfect job, I made up my mind to offer my services to people who needed them and charge for my service. I made a change attitude of ignoring / undervaluing my skills / competencies to value them and put a price tag. After studying the success story of many entrepreneurs, I realized that the job is not the only channel to show our knowledge / skills. It may seem daunting at first, but if not make a conscious decision to start small and do it anyway, we never create revenue in our business. We must remember that we took at least 16 years of education to enter the workforce, and we were never a guarantee that we will have a revenue producing work. The key here is, we have the big picture in mind, by taking small baby steps.
Here are the steps I personally use when the question above comes up:
Do whatever is necessary to transform your negative thoughts / self-limiting beliefs to positive thinking / thought possible. I read books and audio recordings of Self made millionaires like Jim Rohn, Brian Tracey, Mark Joyner, etc.. In my experience, I discovered that making this change in mentality is like sharpening the saw, before cutting a tree. After doing this, it has very little time to cut the tree.
Start a blog and show your skills / competencies. Make sure to post regularly. You can set it free at blogger.com Encourage your readers to comment and ask questions.
Contributing to forums and industry publications related to your area specialization.
Teleseminars host for your prospects / customers.
Start your own newsletter / ezine and educate about their services.
Make sure you provide your contact / site information in your blog, newsletters and comments on forums.
Take note of all the steps you had to be paid for the first time to offer your product / service. Just repeat the process by means of tiny improvements.
My clients and service providers are using the above strategies to run your business successfully and I am sure you can too. To summarize, you will not get paid for who you are, but for the value you bring to the market. When you commit to making the best choice, has the right mentality and apply these strategies consistently, you will see growth in their revenues.
